Frequently asked

Does It Work For Heavy Chewers?

Yes — Bluvea Coffee Wood Chew is made for dogs that destroy normal chews too fast.

Coffee wood is naturally dense, which means it does not disappear like a soft treat or bully stick. Instead, it slowly wears down as your dog chews.

For strong chewers, choose the larger size.

When in doubt, size up.

Is It Safe If My Dog Swallows A Piece?

Bluvea is designed to fray into small wood fibers as your dog chews.

Unlike plastic toys, rawhide chunks, or brittle chews, coffee wood does not break down in the same way. The fibers are small and natural.

Still, every dog is different.

Always supervise chewing. Remove the chew if it becomes small enough to swallow, if your dog is trying to gulp pieces, or if any large/sharp piece appears.

Does It Splinter?

This is the biggest question dog parents ask.

Regular sticks can snap.

Cheap wood can break.

Brittle chews can create sharp fragments.

Bluvea Coffee Wood Chew is different.

It is made from dense coffee wood that slowly frays along the grain into small fibers as your dog chews.

That means the chew wears down gradually instead of cracking apart like a backyard stick.

Quick Safe-Chewing Rules

Watch the size

If the chew becomes small enough to swallow, replace it.

Limit early sessions

Start with 15–20 minute chewing sessions so your dog adjusts.

Supervise strong chewers

Especially during the first few uses.

Pick the right size

For heavy chewers or large breeds, size up.

Loved By Dogs Who Need More Than A 5-Minute Chew

Why Dog Parents Are Making The Switch

Most chews either vanish too fast or leave you worrying about what your dog swallowed. Rawhide can turn sticky, plastic can flake, antlers can feel too hard, and backyard sticks can splinter.

Bluvea Coffee Wood Chew gives your dog a cleaner chewing outlet.

It is made from one natural material, lasts longer than quick-finish chews, and slowly frays into fibers as your dog chews.

No rawhide.

No plastic.

No caffeine.

No greasy animal smell.

No mystery ingredients.

Just a better chew switch for dog parents who want their dog busy without the usual chew anxiety.

Built For Dogs Who Need To Chew

Lasts Days, Not Minutes

Bluvea gives power chewers something satisfying to work on without disappearing in one sitting.

No Plastic. No Guilt.

No rubber flakes. No synthetic chew pieces. No mystery material sitting in your dog’s stomach.

Frays Into Fibers

Coffee wood wears down gradually along the grain, creating small natural fibers instead of sharp splinter-style shards.

One Simple Ingredient

Just coffee wood. No caffeine, no bleach, no additives, no artificial flavoring.

What Coffee Wood Farmers Have Known For Years

Coffee trees produce coffee cherries but the wood itself contains no caffeine.

After years of growth, coffee tree branches are naturally pruned and replaced. Instead of wasting that dense wood, it can be cleaned, dried, sanded, and turned into a long-lasting dog chew.

That’s what makes Bluvea different.

It is not a plastic toy shaped like nature.

It is not rawhide dressed up as “natural.”

It is not a greasy animal chew.

It is real coffee wood, prepared for dogs who love to chew.

One ingredient. One tree. One calmer chewing outlet.

How A Single Bluvea Chew Outlasts Ordinary Chews

Cheap chews are gone fast.

Bluvea works differently.

Day 1: Your dog explores it, chews it, and starts softening the outer fibers.

Day 10: The chew keeps wearing down slowly while helping redirect chewing energy.

Day 30+: For many dogs, it is still part of their routine.

The exact lifespan depends on your dog’s size, jaw strength, chewing style, and session length.

For power chewers, always choose the larger size.

  • 1. Your dog starts chewing

Saliva naturally softens the outside of the wood.

  • 2. The wood frays slowly

It wears down along the grain into small fibers.

  • 3. Your Dog Stays Busy

A better chewing outlet for bored, anxious, or destructive chewers.

Dogs Don’t Just Chew It. They Lock In.

Some chews get ignored after five minutes. Bluvea gives dogs something satisfying to work on — they hold it, carry it around, settle down, and chew instead of searching for the next thing to destroy.

Perfect for:

  • Dogs who chew furniture
  • Dogs who destroy toys fast
  • Dogs who get bored indoors
  • Dogs who need a cleaner chewing outlet
  • Dog parents moving away from rawhide, plastic, bones, and antlers

Questions Worried Dog Parents Ask Us Most

Will it splinter and hurt my dog?

Bluvea Coffee Wood Chew is designed to fray into small fibers as your dog chews, instead of breaking into sharp splinters like normal backyard sticks.

Always supervise chewing and remove the chew if it becomes too small or if any large piece breaks off.

Does it contain caffeine?

No. Caffeine is found in the coffee cherry/bean, not the wood itself.

Bluvea chews are made from coffee wood, not coffee beans.

How long does it last?

It depends on your dog.

Moderate chewers may use one for several weeks.

Strong chewers may wear it down faster.

Very heavy chewers should use the largest size.

Compared to bully sticks, treats, and many soft chews, Bluvea is designed to last much longer.

Will it work for a heavy chewer?

Yes, but size matters.

For Labs, Pitbulls, Goldens, German Shepherds, Boxers, Rotties, Doodles, and other strong chewers, choose the larger size.

Is it safe if my dog swallows fibers?

Small fibers are expected as the chew wears down.

However, Bluvea is a chew, not a food or meal. Always supervise your dog and remove the chew if they try to swallow large pieces.

Will it stain my couch or rug?

Bluvea is dry coffee wood, not a greasy animal chew.

To be safe, use it on easy-clean surfaces during the first few sessions, especially if your dog chews with heavy drool.

Made for a very happy super chewer!
The large coffee stick is plenty big for our nearly 50 lb boy. He is a super chewer and very happy with his new chew! It looks like it will last for a very long time! I don’t notice a smell and it is hard and also soft enough it seems that it won’t hurt him so it appears to be safe and is bringing him lots of joy!

    Bruce approved!
If my Shar Pei could talk, he would give these sticks his stamp of approval. These are his favorite toys by far and he insists of having them stashed strategically throughout the house, ready for him to chew on at a moments notice. Wherever Bruce goes, a stick is sure to follow, he even insists on napping with them. They are great for dogs that love to chew (esp aggressively) on their toys and hold up really well. I recommend getting the large ones for a medium size dog, my 60lb boy has chewed through quite a few of these in 2 years. Warning to pet parents though, if you step on them they do hurt!

    Dogs love them
My dogs love these. The brown one is the more aggressive chewer and has to be supervised more with the chews, including this one. I'd also recommend sizing up. I like that there is a safer, natural chew that my dogs like with no smells!

    GREAT chew!! Yes, it splinters
My 9 month old german shepherd LOVES this coffee wood chew! He also loves chewing on wood sticks he finds in the yard, so is a great alternative. Yes, it can be relatively messy and have small splinters, but they’re not sharp. I wouldn’t recommend leaving your pup unsupervised for hours at a time with it though. I will say, a ton of reviews state how ‘dangerous’ this is.. If you think a small piece of wood is dangerous to your animal (assuming you buy the size appropriate chew) you should re-evaluate every big brand rubber, nylon, other brand of toy, or other items in your house/yard. This particular wood is digestible, and animals in the wild most certainly chew on sticks and survive just fine! :)

My Dog loves it, and I love that it doesn't splinter or leave a mess!
LONG STORY SHORT: My dog loves it. She loves chewing sticks in general. I've always struggled with her eating (yes eating) sticks outside as a puppy, and she loves attempting to bring "outside" sticks inside...even though she knows it's not allowed. I bought this Coffee Wood chew toy for her to have an "inside stick". This is our second one. The first one lasted a really long time. It took her a while to "take" to it. In fact, only in recent months has she really started to love this thing and really making some progress. It got to the point where it was just a nub, and I decided to buy another. She began chewing it immediately when we got it. PROS: -Doesn't splinter, so you're not worried that sharp pieces are getting into their stomach. It more "shreds" and "peels" like shredded chicken or string cheese. -Doesn't leave a mess. It's not breaking off pieces to clean up, just gnaws away like a dog bone. Total win for my dog and my house cleanup. I'm about to buy a smaller one for our smaller dog.

Perfect long lasting chew for big dogs
I ordered the extra large wood chew. I think a large would have also been good. I have a Great Pyrenees and a half husky/half German shepherd dog. They both like this coffee wood dog chew. Despite a shallow split on one side, the integrity of the wood doesn’t seem to be compromised. Both of my dogs are indoor. I like that the wood seems to wear down rather than splinter. This is much better than the fake plastic chews that my dogs chew until it’s gone and throw up later. While this wood chew doesn’t hold their attention all day, I find they go back to it from time to time each day, which is perfect to last. I’m hoping this will mean less chewed up wooden toys and furniture! So far, I will order more. Finally, a dog chew worth the cost.
